Eligibility Requirements for Florida Unemployment Fl Benefits
To qualify for Unemployment Fl Insurance benefits, you must have worked and earned wages during the first four quarters of the previous five completed quarters prior to filing a claim. This period of time is called the “base period.” The base period changes every three months at the beginning of each new quarter starting in January, April, July and October.
During your base period, you must:
· Have been paid wages in two or more calendar quarters;
· Have total base period wages of at least 1-1/2 times the wages in the quarter having the highest earnings; and
· Have at least $3,400 total wages.
In addition to the monetary requirements you must also be unemployed through no fault of your own. If you quit or were fired due to misconduct, you may be disqualified to receive benefits. Also, you must be able and available to work.
To be eligible for benefits you must make look for work and keep a written record of your work search.
